Grand Rapids Youth Symphony at Festival of the Arts

Festival of the Arts kicked off the summer June 5 - 6, complete with visual art, music and dance performances and delicious street food. The Grand Rapids Youth Symphony contributed to the cultural celebration with a performance on the Calder Stage. Grand Rapids Symphony Associate Conductor John Varineau led the orchestra as they played a Russian-themed program with Glinka's "Ruslan and Ludmilla," "Berceuse and Finale" from Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, and the Finale from Shostakovitch's Fifth Symphony.
