Garry Clarke Conductor
“It is good to be King” – a supposed remark by England’s George III could easily be applied to his predecessor Charles II, at least for music lovers! Charles loved music so much that when he was restored to the English throne in 1660 he brought back from his exile in France a passion for all things orchestral. King ‘Charlie’ created his own orchestra and commissioned music by English composers for it to be played alongside his French discoveries. English guest conductor Garry Clarke leads a heavenly sampling of royal music from both sides of the English Channel.
