MUSSORGSKY Night on Bald Mountain
SHOSTAKOVICH
Cello Concerto No. 1
SHOSTAKOVICH
Symphony No. 1

The Grand Rapids Symphony will take you on a mystic mountain-top adventure. Mussorgsky’s tumultuous orchestral depiction of a barren and isolated mountain top was made famous from its Disney rendition in the hit film Fantasia. Also hear cellist Andrei Ioniță perform Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto.

We plan to recognize Bill Vits at our concerts the weekend of January 6-7 by showing a short video highlighting his musical legacy. We’d like to take a moment to honor Bill as a person, and reflect on the significant contributions he made over the course of many decades in West Michigan–and offer a moment of closure for those who are missing him–especially his orchestra family.
