Teddy Abrams Conductor | Benjamin Beilman Violin
The young, dynamic Music Director of The Louisville Orchestra Teddy Abrams offers an eclectic and dynamic program of 20th century masterworks from three countries. Next to his arch-romantic Symphony No. 2, Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5 is his most popular and propulsive symphony, a real tour de force for orchestra. Prokofiev wrote his Violin Concerto No. 1 in the turbulent years of the Russian Revolution and it was championed the world over by the great Hungarian violinist Josef Szigeti. Mr. Abrams pays homage to our own cultural heritage with two mid-century moderns, the dynamic ballet music of Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland’s music to the film version of that quintessential American tale of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town.
