We are pleased to announce our 2018-2019 season! Under the baton of Music Director Marcelo Lehninger, the Grand Rapids Symphony returns with another stellar season of renowned soloists and soul-stirring masterworks.
 
Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt, Associate Conductor John Varineau and the Grand Rapids Pops will bring you the very best entertainment from movie soundtracks, tributes to top-selling artists and even some holiday fun! Interested? Keep reading.

Here are some of the highlights we are excited for you to experience:

♦ Featured this season are pieces that you love and want to hear including Beethoven's 7th Symphony, Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, Mozart's Mass in C minor, Mahler's 3rd Symphony and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2.
♦ We will host a roster of renowned soloists including Karen Gomyo, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Pablo Sáinz Villegas, Sonia Goulart (who also happens to be Marcelo's mother)!

♦ The Grand Rapids Pops heads to the movies as we present full films with live soundtracks including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone and Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl!

Grammy-Award winning guitarist John Pizzarelli performs the music of Sir Paul McCartney; Jazz pianist Tony DeSare joins us in an homage to Frank Sinatra and Trumpeter Byron Stripling returns for a tribute to ragtime, jazz and swing.

♦ A special Great Eras program at St. Cecilia featuring compositions by female composers as well as a performance by former GRS Principal Trombone Ava Ordman!
