Evelyn Glennie, Percussion and Bagpipes
Special guest artist Evelyn Glennie returns to Grand Rapids for a concert featuring wonderful works with a Scottish flair including Mendelssohn’s 3rd “Scottish” Symphony. Glennie, a hearing-impaired virtuosic percussionist will be performing Schwanter’s Percussion Concerto in her bare feet to feel the music. She will also be featured playing the bagpipes on An Orkney Wedding with Sunrise by Peter Maxwell Davies. Grammy-winner Evelyn Glennie is credited as the first full-time, female solo percussionist in the field of Classical music.
