Concert features the world premiere of a work by James M. Stephenson, commissioned by the Grand Rapids Symphony as part of its 80th Anniversary Season activities. Stephenson’s work features the talents of three Symphony musicians, who also happen to be his personal friends: Assistant Principal Trumpet Charley Lea, Trumpet, Assistant Principal Horn Erich Peterson, Horn, and Assistant Principal Trombone Daniel Mattson. Stephenson's music is an energizing soundscape that engages audiences and maintains challenge for the performing musicians.
