“There is the pleasure of listening to Bach because there is so much there...It’s simple yet complex. The more you listen to it, the more you realize how rich it is. There’s also an emotional and spiritual dimension to Bach that reaches people.”
John Varineau, Associate Conductor
In collaboration with Calvin College, the Grand Rapids Symphony presents an evening of music by the most prolific composer of sacred music, J.S. Bach. As part of the Bach Festival, this concert features vocal, trumpet, flute soloists and members of the Calvin Alumni Choir and Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus led by Pearl Shangkuan. The performance includes musical insights from the stage and a complimentary reception.
